DELANDRE, Robert Paul 1876-1961
Born at Elbeuf on October 6, 1876, he studied under Falguiere, Puech and Mercie. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, winning an honorable mention (1904), third class medal (1923) and a second class medal (1928), and was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1930.
He specialized in monuments, memorials and allegorical groups. His works included portrait busts of contemporary French personalities and allegorical statuettes, such as Summer (Paris Town Hall).

His most famous work is the Monument for the Latham 47 Heroes in Caudebec and Caux, France. The statue honors the men who disappeared in 1928 in the prototype of the Latham 47 twin-engine aircraft, with Roald Amundsen on board, during a rescue mission to the North Pole in search of Umberto Nobile.
