Maurice Prost 1894-1967 was a student of Leopold Morice and Charles Valton who would have a strong influence on his career as a naturalist sculptor.
During WWI he gets hurt and his left arm needs to be amputated.
He abandoned his profession as a jeweler to follow his dream and become a sculptor.
Starting in 1922 he exhibited at different Salons and received numerous accolades.
The model Walking black panther was exhibited for the first time in 1928 at the salon des Artistes Indépendants.
